Joan Ohizua

Joan Ohizua is a Nigerian-Canadian legal professional who immigrated to Canada at a young age. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, majoring in Ethics, Law, and Society, with minors in Political Science and Sociology. Joan went on to earn her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, where she also gained valuable global perspective through travel and exposure to diverse cultures.

Throughout her career, Joan has demonstrated a strong commitment to advocacy, working with nonprofit organizations focused on immigration and employment. She has also facilitated leadership and networking workshops for post-secondary students and newcomers. Her legal journey began with refugee claims work and later progressed to a Toronto Bay Street immigration law firm, where she independently managed sponsorship and economic immigration files through to approval.

Nischay K. Sakhuja

As a Law Clerk at HKS Law and a current Paralegal Graduate Certificate student at Humber College, I bring over four years of international experience across India, the United States, and Canada. My expertise includes legal research, drafting, contract administration, immigration review and filings, and corporate compliance, allowing me to support clients with efficiency, precision, and strategic insight.

My professional background spans in-house litigation, immigration procedures, intellectual property matters, commercial contracts, and real estate, with a proven ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional legal environments. As an accepted NCA candidate, my goal is to bridge global legal expertise with modern business practices—helping organizations anticipate risks, negotiate effectively, safeguard their interests, and grow with confidence on an international scale.

Her role includes preparing and reviewing closing documents, coordinating with clients, lenders, and real estate agents, and ensuring all compliance requirements are met. Gurmehak is committed to delivering a seamless client experience and takes pride in combining professionalism with a friendly, approachable manner. Focused on simplifying complex real estate processes, she works to make every transaction as smooth and stress-free as possible while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and care.

Drition is a key member of the Sales & Marketing Team at HKS Law, where he plays an important role in strengthening client relationships and expanding the firm’s reach. He is responsible for developing outreach strategies, managing client inquiries, and ensuring that every prospective client receives a professional and welcoming experience from the very first interaction.

In addition, Drition supports the firm’s marketing initiatives by coordinating campaigns, tracking leads, and identifying new opportunities for growth. Passionate about helping people access legal services, he contributes to maintaining HKS Law’s approachable, client-focused reputation while supporting its continued long-term success.

Japneet Shoker

Intern & Sales Team

Japneet began her journey with HKS Law as an intern, where she quickly demonstrated initiative, dedication, and a strong interest in the legal field. During her internship, she gained valuable exposure to the inner workings of the firm, supporting both administrative and client-focused tasks.

Recognizing her drive and adaptability, Japneet transitioned into a role on the Sales Team. In her current position, she focuses on building meaningful client relationships, supporting lead generation, and ensuring that individuals seeking legal services feel guided and supported from their very first point of contact.

At HKS Law, Marina works exclusively in the Billing Department, where she ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. Her strong attention to detail and dedication help the firm operate smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of accountability.
